National Incident Management & Incident Command System
Both NIMS and the NRP are incorporated into virtually every course offered by AHT. The numerous command and control courses, for example, support provisions of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). We offer courses in preparedness planning, training and management as well as instructor-led field and hands-on courses that addresses key elements of NIMS within an all-hazard environment.
NIMS and Incident Command Specific Courses:
Note: All of these courses meet or exceed the standards established by the NIMS integration center for courses as taught by the department of homeland security (DHS).
- IS-800A National Response Plan (NRP)An Introduction This course introduces the student to the NRP, including the concept of operations upon which the plan is built, roles and responsibilities of the key players, and the organizational structures used to manage these resources. The NRP provides a framework to ensure that we can all work together when our Nation is threatened.
- IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction This course describes the key concepts and principles of NIMS, and the benefits of using the system for domestic incident response. At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to describe these key concepts, principles, and benefits.
- ICS-100: Introduction to ICS (EMI Course Number: IS100)All-hazards ICS course especially designed for all entities of the first responder community with operational responsibilities during emergencies and disasters. (I100)
- ICS-200 ICS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (EMI Course Number: IS200) First line supervisors, single resource leaders, lead dispatchers, field supervisors, company officers and entry level positions (trainees) on Incident Management Teams and other emergency personnel that require a higher level of Incident Command System training. (I200)
- ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents (EMI Course Number: G300) ICS for Expanding Incidents and Supervisors Middle management, strike team leaders, task force leaders, unit leaders, division/group supervisors, branch directors and Multi-Agency Coordination System/Emergency Operations Center staff. Course Objectives include: Describing how the NIMS Command and Management component supports the management of expanding incidents; Describes the incident/event management process for expanding incidents and supervisors as prescribed by the Incident Command system; Implementing the incident management process on a simulated Type 3 incident and Developing an Incident Action Plan for a simulated incident. (I300)
- ICS-400: Advanced ICS Command and General Staff�Complex Incidents (EMI Course Number: G400)ICS for Command and General Staff and Complex Incidents (I400) Command and general staff, agency administrators, department heads, emergency managers, areas commander and Multi-Agency Coordination System/Emergency Operations Center managers. Course Objectives, Topical Areas and Specific Objectives include: ICS Fundamentals Review for Command and General Staff; Major and/or Complex Incident/Event Management; Area Command and Multi-Agency Coordination (I400)
The 300 and 400 level courses are classroom based multi-discipline or multi-jurisdiction courses intended for persons with supervisory responsibilities, such as the incident commander or planning section chief.
- ICS-401 Multi-Agency Coordination System
- ICS-402 Incident Command System Summary for Executives
- Introduction to Command and General StaffThis is a two-day, instructor-led field course designed for those for those emergency services providers who may assume command and general staff functions during a large/complex incident.
- NIMS ICS for EMSThis is a two-day, instructor-led field course equivalent to I100 and I200, designed to introduce students to the concepts of the incident command system as applied in pre-hospital emergency medical services.

ICS Foundation Workshops for Section Chief's
- Practical Planning Section Chief Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of the basic skill sets needed to serve effectively as an ICS Planning Section Chief in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
Practical Situation Unit Leader Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of skill sets needed to serve effectively as an ICS Situation Unit Leader in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
- Practical Resource Unit Leader Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of the basic skill sets needed as an ICS Resource Unit Leader in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
- Practical Logistics Section Chief Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of the basic skill sets needed to serve effectively as an ICS Logistics Section Chief in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
- Practical Supply Unit Leader Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of the basic skill sets needed to serve effectively as an ICS Supply Unit Leader in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
- Practical Communications Unit Leader Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of the basic skill sets needed to serve effectively as an ICS Communications Unit Leader in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
- Practical Facilities Unit Leader Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of the basic skill sets needed to serve effectively as an ICS Facilities Unit Leader in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
- Practical Ground Support Unit Leader Upon completion participants will have working and practical knowledge of the basic skill sets needed to serve effectively as an ICS Ground Support Unit Leader in a Type 5, 4, or 3 Incident or Event.
